RC Sundance Switchgrass is an improved early season variety in the switchgrass world and is highly adaptable to a wide range of regions and growing conditions. Sundance is an elite cross derived from an early selection of Cave N Rock (RC Chippewa) crossed with an improved selection of Sunburst, known for being super hardy and drought tolerant. Sundance works well in Central and Northern regions and is more drought tolerant and adaptable to poorer soils than other varieties of switchgrass.
RC Sundance Switchgrass is an elite variety of switchgrass with a heavier seed weight, improved vigor, and reduced dormancy. It offers exceptional yield potential and is quick to establish for a switchgrass.
This multi purpose switchgrass has excellent winter hardiness and great upright growth, allowing it to handle winter weather throughout the Midwest.
RC Sundance Switchgrass grows very well on sub par soils and can adapt to sandier soils as well as poorly drained soils subject to seasonal flooding.
With its ability to grow from 5 to 7 feet tall, RC Sundance Switchgrass offers incredible wildlife habitat for pheasants and deer alike, whether for bedding, CRP, or concealment.
RC Sundance can be planted on its own or combined with RC Big Rock for quick establishment and long term growth.
